Loving curves: dating beyond the mainstream apps

Why so many people with curves feel invisible on ordinary dating apps, and what a community looks like where fullness isn't a flaw but the point.

There's this moment on the usual dating apps that a lot of people with curves know: you swipe, you message, and somewhere in the back of your mind there's that quiet feeling that your body is liked in spite of itself, not because of it. I lived in that mode for a long time. This piece is for everyone who recognizes it.

The problem with mainstream apps

The big apps are built for an average that doesn't actually exist. If you're fuller, you get less visibility, more uncomfortable comments, and that constant sense of having to explain yourself. Body positivity ends up in the bio, but it's rarely lived.

What changes when fullness is the point

In the feeder and feedee community, softness, roundness, and enjoyment aren't the flaw you retouch away, they're what people consciously look forward to. To outsiders that sounds unfamiliar at first, but for many it feels like breathing out for the first time. No sucking in, no apologizing, no "for someone like me."

Important, so no wrong picture forms: it's about consent and your own pace. Nobody has to gain, nobody has to prove anything. It's about being seen and liked, as you are or as you want to become. More on that in Is feederism healthy?.

How to start

  • Write a bio that shows who you are, not one that justifies itself.
  • Upload a photo you like yourself in, not the slimmest one you could find.
  • Look for people who share the same world, by find a feeder or a feedee.

If that sounds like a place where you're not the exception: create a profile. It feels good to arrive somewhere you're not someone's compromise.
