Becoming a feeder: how to start without putting your foot in it
What I tell new feeders on Crave again and again, honest and without the usual coach tone.
There's that phase where you know you're a feeder but have no idea what to actually do with it. I was there. Most of us were. Here are a few things I wish I'd known looking back.
First, get clear with yourself about what you want
Sounds obvious, but "I want a feedee" isn't an answer. Is it about online stories, a real relationship, watching, cooking for someone, taking the lead? The clearer you are, the fewer conversations fizzle out at "hi, how are you".
Your profile isn't a resume, but it isn't a list of keywords either
Three sentences that show how you tick beat any bullet list. Instead of "feeder, dominant, German", try "I love cooking way too much and I love the moment someone says 'I can't anymore' and then takes one more bite anyway". People feel that.
The first message
Please, not a bare "hey". One concrete reference to their profile, a single line, and you're already ahead of 90% of the inbox. Feedees get a lot of junk. Not being junk is honestly half the battle.
Patience
Trust builds over weeks, not over three voice notes. Someone who pushes amounts and wishlists from the start comes across like they've mistaken a person for an order form.
Small shared goals
Small talk eventually turns into something tangible: a mukbang together, an outfit that no longer fits, a photo that makes someone proud. The attitude is what matters: shared progress is a gift, not an order.
Health isn't a mood killer
A good feeder makes sure the other person is doing well. That isn't uncool, that's the whole point.
