The encourager and me: a gainer story across two screens

An immersive gainer short story about how a single chat message turned a secret wish into a shared project.

Short story. Fiction, written for the community.

I'd carried the wish around for years like a stone in my pocket. To gain, because I want to. Not a little, but really. I'd never have guessed that a single message would turn it into a shared project.

The first message

"I think I want to get bigger, and I don't know where to put it." I sent it to an encourager on Crave, half in a panic, braced for silence. Instead: "Then let's start. Tell me how full you are right now."

That simple. And still, something tipped in that moment. My secret became a conversation.

How it felt

He didn't feed me, that wasn't possible. He did something else. He watched, with words. In the mornings he asked what I had for breakfast. In the evenings he wanted to know how heavy I felt. He celebrated every pair of pants that got tighter, every photo that showed more of me.

And I bloomed under that gaze. It's a strange, lovely thing when someone takes your growing more seriously than you do yourself. I ate more consciously, more enjoyably, because I knew someone was happy about it with me.

The project

We never gave it a name, but it was one. No pressure, no number I had to reach. Just a steady, warm keep going. A month in which my favorite jeans gave up. A month in which I had a real, heavy belly for the first time, one that bounced when I stood up. A month in which I sent photos and read his reply and felt seen like never before.

  • He often noticed changes before I did. "Your face has gotten rounder."
  • He turned a second helping into a little ritual I looked forward to.
  • He never said I had to. He said he enjoyed it. That was completely enough.

What came of it

We did meet eventually. But honestly, the best part was the time across two screens, when a stone in my pocket became something I held proudly in my hand.
